GENERAL COMMENTS: One of 1036 letters and documents from the Marquess of Townshend sale of July 1924. Approximately two-thirds of the papers are connected or related to some member of the Bacon family, and the balance are of the Townshend family. The Bacon papers are those of Sir Nathaniel (1547-1622), second son and heir of the Lord Keeper.
