VE STARÝCH HORÁCH
Papírna ve Starých Horách u Jihlavy byla od svého založení v roce 1541 součástí jihlavského panství. Rodina Freyů platila stálý roční poplatek městské radě v Jihlavě a zřejmě proto směla používat jako filigrán jihlavský městský znak. Výrazným motivem jihlavského městského znaku je ježek, podle kterého je někdy odvozován i samotný název města Iglau/Igel.
První papírník Petr Frey, syn Hanuše Freye z pražské papírny na Starém Městě, založil dynastii papírníků, která zde působila více jak 5 generací. Nástupnický rod Reinischů a spřízněný rod Hellerů pak udržely výrobu papíru ve Starých Horách až do roku 1848, kdy byly papírna přebudována na soukenickou továrnu.
Databáze filigránů začala vznikat na základě vědeckého záměru MZA v Brně. Tento záměr s názvem Atlas filigránů papírny ve Starých Horách u Jihlavy ze 16. století, kromě samotné sbírky obkreslených filigránů, která se fyzicky nachází ve Státním okresním archivu v Jihlavě, obsahuje i studii využitelnosti úředních rukopisů k přesnější dataci filigránů. Za elektronickou databázi těchto filigránů patří dík Emanuelovi Wengerovi a Bernstein project.
The paper mill in Staré Hory near Jihlava was part of the Jihlava manor since its foundation in 1541. The Frey family paid a fixed annual fee to the city council in Jihlava and was probably therefore allowed to use the Jihlava city coat of arms as watermark. A distinctive motif of the Jihlava city coat of arms is the hedgehog, from which the very name of the city Iglau/Igel is sometimes derived.
The first papermaker, Petr Frey, son of Hanuš Frey from the Prague paper mill in the Old Town, founded a dynasty of papermakers that operated here for more than 5 generations. The successor family of Reinisch and the related family of Heller kept paper production in Staré Hory until 1848, when the paper mill was rebuilt into a cloth factory.
The creation of the watermark database was based on the scientific plan of the MZA (Moravian State Archive) in Brno. This plan is entitled Atlas of watermarks of the paper mill in Staré Hory near Jihlava from the 16th century and includes the redrawing of watermarks, which are physically located in the State District Archives in Jihlava the study of the usability of official manuscripts for more accurate dating of watermarks as well as the transformation of the shape of the hedgehogs during the 16th century and the assignment of individual shapes of watermarks to the individual papermakers.
